Zanasi Racing straight onto the podium: double result at Imola in season debut

The Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari opened the 2026 season of the Italian Gran Turismo Sprint Championship with an intense and highly competitive weekend. Eighty crews and more than 140 drivers took part in a fiercely contested opening round, where every detail made the difference. In this context, Zanasi Racing made its absolute debut, immediately stepping into the heart of the competition.

A weekend of progress

Saturday confronted the team with the first real challenges of the championship: high pace, on-track traffic, and complex race dynamics. It was a valuable phase to collect data, refine the setup, and lay the groundwork for the following day. Sunday showed a different side of the team. Greater confidence, more precise race management, and an effective strategy allowed the crews to unlock their full potential.

Podiums that boost the season

The work built over the weekend translated into strong race results, with concrete outcomes rewarding the team’s progress. Car #109, driven by Fontana and Lovati, secured second place in the PRO-AM category, while car #211, driven by Demarchi and Briselli, claimed victory in the AM category.

A solid foundation to build on

The opening round of the season provides clear indications: the potential is there, and the direction is set. Competing against some of the most competitive teams in the GT field makes the result even more significant.

As Marco Zanasi (Team Owner, Zanasi Racing) noted:
“It was a very intense weekend, especially considering our debut in such a competitive championship. After a complicated start, the team’s reaction in Race 2 was exemplary: we showed character, adaptability, and strong team spirit. The results achieved are an important signal, but above all a solid foundation on which to continue working and grow throughout the season.”

With Imola behind them, Zanasi Racing now looks ahead with a clear goal: to maintain consistency in performance and continue a steady growth path, maximizing the potential of all the crews entered by the team.
