A high-intensity weekend at the Roman circuit
The second round of the 2026 Italian Gran Turismo Sprint Championship came to an end at the “Piero Taruffi” Circuit in Vallelunga. It was a demanding weekend for Zanasi Racing, marked by high temperatures and an extremely competitive field across all classes.
Race 1: incidents and penalties affect the outcome
The opening race of the weekend unfolded through a series of incidents and penalties that impacted the performance of all four Zanasi Racing entries. The pace shown on track highlighted the team’s potential, but difficult race circumstances prevented that speed from translating into the results the team was aiming for.

Race 2: Zanasi Racing fights back and reaches the podium
Race 2 told a very different story. Strong starting positions allowed the crews to fully express their pace and consistency, putting Zanasi Racing back in contention for the leading positions.
Car #109, driven by Fontana and Lovati, delivered a determined and hard-fought performance. Their race was built on consistency and controlled aggression until an on-track contact forced the crew into an additional pit stop. From that moment on, the pair responded impressively, recovering to finish fifth overall — a result that showcased both resilience and composure under pressure.
An outstanding performance also came from car #203 with Giacomo Ghermandi and Vittoria Piria. The duo led their class for most of the race, maintaining a strong and competitive pace throughout the stint. Although they lost the lead in the closing stages, they still secured an excellent second-place finish, bringing Zanasi Racing onto the podium and confirming the strength of the work carried out by the drivers throughout the entire weekend.

Marco Zanasi’s comments
Zanasi Racing leaves Vallelunga with valuable data, a podium finish and the confidence to remain a consistent contender throughout the season.
“Vallelunga was a very challenging round: a technical circuit that is difficult to interpret, combined with the first high temperatures of the season,” commented Marco Zanasi, Team Owner of Zanasi Racing. “The team reacted with determination throughout the weekend, collecting very positive feedback and achieving an important result that gives us confidence heading into the next rounds of the championship.”
